Medical Writing Conference Enhances Novelle's Offerings to Customers

One of the most important ways Novelle consultants stay abreast of the latest innovations in our respective scientific disciplines is attending national and international conferences. Through these meetings, our consultants are able to share their latest work, expand their knowledge through other presented research, and gain opportunities to team with companies on cutting-edge research projects. Our lead Medical Writer, Dr. Vivian Vralsted, recently attended the 2018 American Medical Writers Association Medical Writing & Communication Conference in Washington, D.C. and she shares some highlights from the conference and how attendance helps her maintain her professional skills and build valuable research networks.
"This year’s conference was in Washington, D.C. and was attended by hundreds of medical writing professionals across a variety of disciplines. The conference’s theme was “Trends and Opportunities for Medical Communicators” and presented dynamic learning opportunities through an innovative approach that fostered creativity and thoughtful discussion with colleagues and thought-leaders in our field. Not only was I able to connect with current colleagues, but the conference gave me a chance to expand my network and meet potential new colleagues, while participating in a range of general sessions, roundtable discussions, and workshops. The entire meeting was extremely valuable, but the workshops were critical in providing an opportunity to advance my writing skills with topics such as; Advanced Data Presentation, Clinical Study Reports in Oncology, Effective Paragraphing, Statistics for Medical Writers and Editors, and Understanding Sample Size and Power. I was able to discuss new FDA regulations for medical writers with experts in the field and gained insights into Pharmacovigilance Writing and how to develop better proposals through attendance at breakout sessions. I’m ready to employ the new skills I gained at this year’s conference for Novelle clients and am looking forward to next year’s conference in beautiful San Diego."
Novelle consultants clearly understand that, while conference attendance is only one avenue to gain professional development, keep up-to-date with advances in the field, and network, it is an important one and allows us to ensure the best quality research support for our clients. Dr. Vralsted’s experience and continued career progression contribute to Novelle’s ability to excel in providing clients with superior research-oriented products and solutions.
