Chapter 586 - 573: Love Even in Death!
Chapter 586 - 573: Love Even in Death!
He shivered, tightening his thin coat as he walked down the bitterly cold road. The distance from the intersection to the KTV was several dozen meters, and the short, dark-skinned Xiao Hei continually blew his nose as he walked. His face bore the solemn, tragic air of a hero marching to his doom.
My fate is sealed!
But he didn’t care. So what if he was completely exposed by the surveillance cameras? So what if he was put on a wanted list? It just meant he’d have to go on the run, maybe even skip the country to lay low for a while. That was nothing!
But he was mistaken. They all were. Money was certainly appealing, but was an ordinary girl truly worth a million? Would someone really put up a million-dollar reward for them to kidnap her?
Jiang Yino was Qin Fan’s Achilles’ heel. If things truly progressed to that point, a wanted notice would be a laughable understatement. Even if the police locked down the entire city and shot them on sight, it would hardly be enough to quell Qin Fan’s rage. They would be lucky to escape with their lives, let alone avoid having their entire families exterminated for generations.
He watched the seven-seater Jianghuai circle around toward the back door of the KTV.
Xiao Hei wiped his snot-covered hand on a pillar at the KTV’s entrance, then quickly walked toward the reception desk inside.
"Miss, which private room did my three classmates go to? They asked me to come over, but my phone ran out of credit, so I couldn’t call to ask them!" Xiao Hei sniffled, smiling at the girl at the front desk.
"Your classmates? What classmates? How am I supposed to know who your classmates are?" Engrossed in a chat on WeChat, the receptionist didn’t even look up.
"The three who just came in! Didn’t they get a room?" Xiao Hei feigned surprise, his acting convincing and not the least bit over the top.
Hearing this, the girl at the reception desk looked up. When she saw Xiao Hei’s appearance, she froze. "You’re telling me you’re classmates with *them*?"
"Yeah! Don’t I look it? Oh, right, I probably look too old! I can’t help it, I’m from the countryside. I have to do farm work whenever I’m home on break, so I got a tan! Can you tell me, beautiful sister? Or you could let me borrow your phone to make a quick call and ask them where they are!" As he spoke, Xiao Hei put on a shy and awkward demeanor.
Honestly, using such acting skills on a job like this was an absolute waste of his talents.
Hearing Xiao Hei speak so timidly, the receptionist didn’t overthink it. More importantly, she had no intention of lending him her phone—who knew what kind of trouble he might cause. "They booked room 4012. Go on up!"
With that said, she went right back to her phone. In a KTV of this sort, there was hardly any privacy to speak of. Besides, the hallways were all monitored. Causing trouble here was no different than asking to be thrown in jail.
"Thank you, beautiful sister!" Xiao Hei replied with a smile.
He turned, pulling out his own phone as he walked toward the elevator.
"4012!" After dialing Fei’s number, Xiao Hei relayed the digits. Taking a deep breath, he rode the ascending elevator to the fourth floor.
"Move out!"
Inside the seven-seater Jianghuai at the back door, Fei gave the order in a grim voice upon receiving Xiao Hei’s message. He then quickly pulled a balaclava over his head.
With a rustle of fabric, three men in balaclavas jumped out of the van, pulled open the unguarded back door of the KTV, and agilely bounded up the stairs.
When the elevator reached the fourth floor, Xiao Hei didn’t go to room 4012. Instead, he made up an excuse to lure the few waiters standing guard in the hallway away from their posts. At the same time, the three charging men led by Fei reached the emergency staircase on the fourth floor.
For a nightclub, the emergency exit doors were often left unlocked during business hours. This worked to the trio’s advantage. They kicked the door open with ease and raced like the wind toward room 4012.
*Gotta love ’til we die!*
*If it’s not all or nothing, it’s not right!*
*Our love is so deep, this is the only way to say it right!*
*Won’t love even if I die!*
*Gotta cry ’til I smile, or it’s not right!*
*My heart will survive the universe’s last night!*
Inside the private room, the first one to rush in was Ou Mingsi. Without a second thought, she grabbed a microphone and foolishly started to belt out the song. She had no idea that Jiang Yino’s heart was pierced with pain at the sound of those lyrics. Her complexion, which had just started to recover, turned pale once more.
Love even in death? A heart that remains even if the universe is destroyed?
As she struggled with these chaotic thoughts, Du Ruanqing’s expression changed drastically. She ran to the console and cut the song off. "What are you doing?! Are you trying to rub salt in Yinuo’s wound? Who does that? You come in here and the first thing you sing is ’Gotta Love ’Til We Die’? Did you do that on purpose?"
Scolded by Du Ruanqing, Ou Mingsi finally realized what she had done and her body trembled.
"I... I... I forgot! I’m so sorry, I didn’t mean it! Yinuo, I really didn’t think, I was just trying to get the party started! Yinuo, I was wrong!" She hurriedly put down the microphone and rushed to explain herself to Jiang Yino.
"It’s okay, I’m not that fragile. And besides, how is this rubbing salt in my wound? Are you two looking for a beating?" Although her expression betrayed her true feelings, Jiang Yino managed a forced smile and shot the two an exasperated glare. If anyone should be apologizing, it was she who owed them an apology.
Just as Jiang Yino finished speaking, before Ou Mingsi and Du Ruanqing could respond, the door to the room was thrown open.
Three uninvited guests wearing balaclavas had abruptly barged in.
"Hey! I think you’re in the wrong room," Du Ruanqing said quickly, being the first to react.
"Make it quick! Go!" the man in the tiger mask shouted, ignoring her completely.
The next moment, the three masked men pulled out zip ties and duct tape and lunged at the three girls.
"Ah!!!"
"Help!"
"Help!!!"
By the time they realized something was wrong, it was too late. As the three masked men pounced, the girls let out frantic screams. But with the music blasting in the room, their cries for help were utterly useless.
Facing three strong and experienced men, they had no power to resist. Their futile struggles did nothing to change their fate of being bound hand and foot.
"Keep them quiet! Tape their mouths shut!" Fei commanded urgently from beneath his tiger mask.
RIP! RIP!
The sound of tearing tape filled the air. Overwhelmed by terror, the three girls began to scream desperately, "No, no! Please, we’re begging you, don’t!"
However, the men ignored their pleas. With swift and practiced motions, they slapped tape firmly over the girls’ mouths as they struggled and shook their heads.
"Go!"
Feeling every second was precious in this race against time, Fei gave a low command. He was the first to act, hoisting the still-struggling Jiang Yino over his shoulder before bolting out the door.
Seeing this, the other two masked men, Erzi and Changmao, did the same.
They ignored the stunned gazes of the other patrons outside. Holding their breath, they charged in one go to the emergency exit and, without even pausing to breathe, leaped down the stairs.
Sensing the commotion, Xiao Hei turned and ignored the waitstaff, charging toward the emergency staircase like a hero swooping in to save the day.
Until that very moment, no one would have suspected they were all part of the same crew.
